There is a wide selection of live music on offer at The Bicton Inn over the next few weeks, including several opportunities for singers and musicians to join in - all free of charge.

Saturday, September 14, 5pm: Matthew North

'One Voice, One Guitar and a lot of pedals.'

This talented guitarist produces a full band sound all on his own.

Matthew is the guitarist for the jazz legend Mike Westbrook, and his appearance at the Bicton comes a few days after their latest sell-out performance at Ronnie Scott's.

Matthew will be performing his own songs along with material from bands he has played in, including Secrets for September and All Living Fear, and musicians he knows personally, such as Tom Bailey from the Thompson Twins, and Arthur Brown.

Sunday, September 15, 5pm: Livvy Hylton-Smith & John McLoughlin

This duo comprise charismatic singer Livvy Hylton-Smith and multi-instrumentalist John Mcloughlin.

They will be performing a varied selection of songs from the 70s to the present day, along with some originals.

Sunday, September 15, 8pm: Exmouth Irish Session

An evening of lively and evocative music from the Emerald Isle, when musicians from all over Devon come together for this regular traditional Irish session.

Anyone who sings or plays is welcome to join in. It is a great night to meet up with people with Irish roots.

Thursday, September 19, 8.30pm: Folk and Indie Open Night

Becky Brookes hosts her regular monthly evening of eclectic acoustic folk, country and indie music, featuring a varied selection of singers and players. There will be some session playing, solo performances, poetry, shanty singing and more.

Anyone who sings or plays is welcome to take part.

Saturday September 21, 5pm: Reefs of Moonshine

Enjoy some very chilled music in the company of acoustic duo Reefs of Moonshine.

Lisa's angelic voice is beautifully complemented by Nick's intricate guitar playing, creating a very polished sound.

The duo will perform their own arrangements of popular melodic songs.drawn from the worlds of folk, country and soul music.

Sunday, September 22, 5pm: Fire Exit

An afternoon of trad jazz in the company of talented jazz stalwarts Martin Nichols, Bob King, Charlie Hernshaw and Paul Barnham, who will be performing a selection of beautiful, chilled jazz standards.

Thursday, September 26, 8.30pm: Bicton Folk Night

Exmouth Shanty Man Derek Brooks invites you to join him for an evening of evocative and rousing music performed by some of East Devon's talented folk musicians.

Musicians and singers are welcome to join in the session.

Saturday, September 28 5pm: The McCreadys

Enjoy the authentic sound of American country blues with the McCreadys.

With intricate guitar picking and deep, sultry vocals, Robbo Lees and Nick Bayes perform some well known and lesser known songs from the deep South of the USA.

Sunday, September 29, 5pm: Rosie Eade

Rosie's voice is likened to those of Kate Bush, Maddy Prior and Grace Slick, and her original music is inspired by the likes of The Who as much as Steeleye Span.

She is equally accomplished within the acoustic-folk and old school rock genres.

Her music is regularly featured on BBC Regional Radio and she is well known on the national festival scene, having performed at events including Cambridge Folk Festival, Beautiful Days and Glastonbury's Avalon Café.
