Princesses are pampered and scientists end up covered in slime in the wonderfully wacky world of Mrs Snuggles The Ultimate Party Experience.
The Exmouth-based firm, which is run by Lisa Hamer - Mrs Snuggles herself - has recently opened its doors in its newest spot in town, Exeter Road.
The move came after 11 months’ successful trading at Exmouth Indoor Market - where the Mrs Snuggles brand truly made a name for itself.
To celebrate the launch of the Mrs Snuggles shop, Enjoy Exmouth More invited two pairs of parents and their children to enjoy the newest party experiences launched by the company – the Princess Pamper Parlour and Slime Lab!
First to arrive was Exmouth youngster Harry Stubbings and his dad Paul.
After an enthusiastic welcome from Mrs Snuggles, the duo put on their special science robes and chose their scientists’ names - Professor Dog for Harry and Professor Cat for Paul.
A quick equip of some safety goggles and the pair got to work making slime.
Firstly, the slime base was added to a big plastic bowl, special slime powder was added to thicken it up, before it was brought to life with Mrs Snuggles’ special slime activator.
Harry and Paul then chose which colours they wanted to add to the slime - of course choosing all of them to make it, as Harry expertly coined it, ‘rainbower’.
The last component of the slime making process was the addition of Mrs Snuggles’ ‘slime and shine’, a special formula which made the slime loose and satisfyingly malleable.
The jury’s out on who was more mesmerised by the slime - Harry, who promptly covered himself from head to toe with it - or Paul, who silently watched in awe as it slowly dripped and gooped from his fingertips.
To cap off the session, Harry and Paul were presented with their slime certificates before the slime was potted up and they went on their way.
Speaking afterwards, Harry said: “I really enjoyed it!
“ My favourite part was choosing the colours. The slime was fun to play with and really gooey! I want to come back and do it again.”
His dad added: “It was great - my favourite part was holding it up and letting it drip down.”
A quick tidy up and Mrs Snuggles was ready for her next experience - this time a Princess Pamper Parlour session.
Seven-year-old Gracie, who turns eight on Friday, was selected to take part in this session - and was super excited from the get go.
“I have been wanting to do this for ages,” she said. “I was at the open day - I’m really excited.”
Gracie, accompanied by her stepmum Caron, was shown into Mrs Snuggles pamper parlour, a bright pink room with plush pink leather seats and a television showing Disney’s greatest hits - the karaoke version of course.
After taking off her coat and slipping into a plush pink robe, Gracie was treated to a glass of pink bubbles and had her feet soaked in warm water, enhanced by a fragrant fizzing bath bomb.
Mrs Snuggles also applied a chocolate face mask to Gracie and Caron, with the former browsing a selection of children’s magazines while her drink was topped up.
Gracie then had the choice of several bright nail polishes for her toes - with aqua blue the preferred choice, and glittery pink for her fingernails.
While this was being done, she and Mrs Snuggles belted out some Disney classics, such as Frozen’s Let it Go and Lion King’s I Just Can’t Wait to Be King.
Gracie then got to choose a special glitter tattoo. Though spoilt for choice, she selected a mermaid in honour of her favourite Disney princess, Ariel.
After a relaxing foot massage, Gracie was given five minutes to relax as the bright lights of the parlour were tuned down to an ambient blue. Speaking afterwards, Gracie said: “It was amazing! It’s so princessy, it’s like a children’s spa. You have to go here because it’s amazing - no-one is allowed to live their life without coming here. I’m coming back tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day!”
Caron added: “It exceeded my expectations - I actually got quite emotional seeing Gracie so happy and loving it. It was really nice.”
Mrs Snuggles said: “Harry really enjoyed his session and I think dad was in complete awe of it!
“I think they both thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
“Gracie was in awe of it all too - and her comments afterwards were so lovely. She was singing along to the karaoke and loved the treatments - she knew what she wanted! It was an absolute pleasure - they were gems!”
